I'm doing it

I have been thinking about starting this blog so that I can share my struggles with becoming or trying to be a better mom. I have been failing by doing the following: I let my kids play on electronic devices when they can be doing something much more stimulating and educational. I give in when they ask me for junk food or doughnuts. I have realized that I've been doing this because it makes me happy when they are happy. I feel uncomfortable when they are in a bad mood or just seem unhappy. Yes, their happiness is very important to me. I realized that I must have been thinking that when kids are happy, it means I'm a good mom. I have only been thinking in a short term kind of way. I have to step back and see the bigger picture - the future.
